A Physiatrist (pronounced: fizz ee at’trist) is a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a medical doctor who specializes in treating musculoskeletal conditions and pain. Much like a cardiologist is the non-surgical counterpart of a cardiac surgeon, so a physiatrist can be considered the non-surgical counterpart of an orthopedic surgeon.
Physiatrists treat the whole person to restore maximal function in their lifestyle as opposed to treating just the symptoms. Physiatrist will work as a team with other medical professionals you may be seeing, such as physical therapists, chiropractors, orthopedists and neurosurgeons.
The specialty serves all age groups and treats problems in most regions of the body.
We are conveniently located in Howard County, Maryland. We see patients from Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Montgomery counties as well as the Washington D.C. metro area.
